Welcome to DownLog, a utility designed to track where all those downloads on your machine are coming from. DownLog is available as a stand-alone application or as a logging extension/reader application combination. Either way DownLog lets you know where you got what you did.
OPERATION:
Launch DownLog and in the preferences window choose one of the following options for browser notification;
1. The "Script" option requires that AppleScriptâ„¢ be installed on your machine. With this option when you launch DownLog it will in turn launch your browser and begin monitoring traffic. This is a good option if you use a utility such as FreePPP. Simply have FreePPP launch DownLog upon connection, which will in turn launch your browser.
2. With the "Non-Script option DownLog begins to monitor traffic once you launch your browser. This option is better if you plan to work with the DownLog log info and don't need your browser.
Once your Netscape browser is launched DownLog will monitor all traffic. When it detects downloading of files it will log the actual download URL, the referring URL and a date/time of download.
In the listbox to the left of the main screen will be a list of downloaded files. To view the pertinent data for each file simply select it in the listbox. To the right in the top editfield will be the actual download URL, below that the referring page's URL and below that the system date and time when the file was actually downloaded.
By default file are arranged in descending chronological order. To view files in alphabetical order click 'Alpha', to go back to chronological order click 'Chrono.' To find a certain file enter the string you wish to search for in the top editfield and then click 'Find', to find again click 'Again.'
To re-download a file choose it in the listbox then click 'Re-DL', to go back to the referring page click 'Re-Visit.'
